Letter to the Teacher, S.R.E. - Example

I would like to share with you an example of "Letter to the Teacher", (S.R.E.) which stands for "Statement, Response, Evidence". The students are learning how to become "Critical Thinkers" in todays society. This particular work helps the student to become a more "Independent Thinker", while providing evidence to support their personal thoughts. Please understand, the student is required to have their own opinion to support a strategy, which is on the first page 1-10, that is given to them as a part of homework.

IS YOUR CHILD PROFICIENT WITH THEIR 123's of MATH?

Here is a great way to make sure your child is keeping up with their basic math skills. They should be proficient with addition and subtraction problems.

For example, they should be able to add and subtract:

  • single to single digits numbers (2 + 8 = ?)

  • single to double digits numbers (9 + 14 = ?)

  • single from single digits (9 - 5 = ?)

  • single from double digit (20 - 9 = ?)

  • double digits from double digits (40 - 35 = ?)

Please make some personal "MATH" addition and subtraction flash cards to help your child succeed in their math skills. IF they can automatically tell you the answer without hesitation this starts becoming part of their daily mathematical skills.

Every night for about 15 minutes, quiz your child's ability with the flash cards, this will help them grow better in math.

Remember: The better they know their BASIC math skills, the MORE confident they become in math, and the easier it is to learn NEW concepts that are being applied in math.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: I NEED YOUR HELP TO IMPROVE YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING, IF YOU CAN REINFORCE BASIC and NEW SKILLS AT HOME, I CAN HELP THEM GROW TOO!

Welcome to San Jose Elementary!

I would like to take this opportunity to WELCOME all the students to San Jose Elementary! I am so excited to teach my class! I have absolutely wonderful students in my class, and I am learning so much from them already! Yes that is right, I am learning from them too! Each one of my students have different personalities and learning ideas! This group of students, your children, are already learning how to accept each others personalities. Most of all, I have been noticing that they are so eager to help one another during lessons as well. My class is a demonstrating an example of a "learning community".
